A quick tax check-in

Now that tax season is behind us, this is a great time to take a quick look back at your 2025 return and make any updates for the year ahead.

While it’s still fresh, you may have noticed a few things like whether you fully funded accounts such as your HSA or retirement plans, or if your tax withholdings were a bit off. These are common and fixable.

A small adjustment now can make a meaningful difference over the rest of the year. It can help you stay on track, avoid surprises, and feel more confident as you move forward.

If you’d like, we’re happy to review this with you and help make any updates needed.

What could cost you more than you expect in 2026

Most people with real wealth don’t get blindsided because of one big, dramatic mistake.

Instead, their plan might drift off course because things don’t feel urgent, and decisions get delayed. Or maybe they are just putting money into a 401(k) and are not aware of other steps they could take to plan and prepare for retirement.

It is now three months into the year, and it is a great time to think of the financial decisions for the rest of 2026 – decisions that can impact future tax returns and indeed your retirement plans! Review key topics, make decisions with intentionality, and avoid drifting into potentially costly mistakes.

If you want to hear Tim Goodwin and Joe Beckford unpack this topic in more depth, you can listen to or watch Episode 111 of the Money PIG Podcast on YouTube, or Buzzsprout.

Why AI Isn’t Your Life Coach — The Power of Real Mentors.

In Episode 113 of our podcase, we explore the limitations of AI as a life coach and highlight the irreplaceable value of human mentorship. While AI tools like ChatGPT can assist with decision-making and emotional regulation, they lack the depth of understanding, empathy, and accountability that come from real relationships. Discover why genuine mentors are crucial for personal growth, decision clarity, and long-term success.

Key topics:

  • The practical use of AI for navigating conversations and emotional responses

  • Why AI cannot replace the emotional intelligence of mentors or therapists

  • The critical role of human mentors in providing context, accountability, and personalized advice

  • How trusted guides influence decision-making and long-term goals

  • The risks of relying solely on AI for personal and relational development

  • How technology can complement, but not substitute, human connection and wisdom

Resources & Links:

In a world increasingly powered by AI, remember that human connection, experience, and wisdom remain the foundation of meaningful growth. Use technology to assist, but never replace the mentors who truly see and understand you.

Nourish to Flourish
By Tara Bruce

It’s Not Just About Living Longer…It’s About Living Well

There’s a lot of talk right now about longevity. How to extend your life. How to stay sharp. How to add years.

But here’s a better question:

What are those extra years going to feel like?

Will you have the health to enjoy them?
The relationships to share them?
The financial clarity to live them freely?

You can’t separate financial health from physical and mental health. They’re deeply connected.

Stress about money impacts sleep.
Poor health impacts spending and planning.
Lack of purpose affects both.

This is why we believe in a different approach:

Nourish the whole life…so everything can flourish.

A gentle reminder to make the adjustments you need in order to find your peace.

Sometimes that looks like having an honest conversation with your advisor about your financial health. Other times, it’s refining your daily routines, creating more space to breathe, or being intentional about who you spend your time with. All of these pieces matter because each plays a role in your overall well-being. Is there one thing you have been wanting to do and putting off that, once completed, will bring you peace of mind? If so, schedule some time to do it and prioritize your peace and overall well-being.

Build a brunch board

brunch-baord

Well, this isn’t really a “recipe”. I mean, it is a recipe – it’s more of a concept. There is so much happening on this brunch board. And while I have a few specific items I feel really must be included, the rest of what I’m going to tell you are really just more of my suggestions. I want you guys to be able to take a few ideas from me, and then put your own spin on this brunch board. Adapt it to the flavors and foods you love most!

Let me break this board down piece by piece. The star players are as follows…

roasted potatoes + crispy bacon – both roasted together in the oven to make things easy.

eggs –Your choice of either hard-boiled, jammy, or scrambled.

cherry tomatoes with burrata – toss the tomatoes in basil pesto for extra deliciousness.

smoked salmon – be sure to include plenty of cream cheese and lemon wedges.

bagels + naan – obviously you need these toasty carbs.

These items make up the bulk of the board, and are items that I think you should include. Some optional items that I really want to encourage you to play with could include spreads, vegetables, and fruits that you, your friends, and family love.

My recommendations? Chili fig jam, hot jarred peppers or pickled veggies, fruit jam, honey, avocados, fresh berries, and lots of vegetables – I suggest cucumbers, radishes, and red onions. Plenty of fresh herbs – my favorites are chives, basil, and dill. Again, these are my suggestions. Have fun and get creative with the add-ons. Customize this brunch board to your own personal taste!
