Annual Financial Check-Up: 7 Smart Reminders
As summer winds down, it’s a great time to pause and make sure your financial life is running smoothly. Think of it like a routine check-up—just a few simple habits that can make a big difference over time. Here are seven smart reminders worth revisiting at least once a year:
1. Review your subscriptions
Little things add up! Look at your monthly charges—don’t forget those hidden ones through Apple or Google. Cancel what you no longer use to free up cash for bigger priorities.
2. Revisit your 401(k) or workplace plan
Ensure it’s on track. Check performance, review your risk level, and consider rebalancing to keep your investments aligned with your goals.
3. Update your net worth statement
Your net worth is like your financial “dashboard.” Updating it once a year helps you see your progress. You can track this easily through your gMoney portal with us.
4. Increase your savings rate
Can you boost your monthly contributions by even 1–2%? Whether it’s a 401(k), Roth IRA, 529 plan, or regular savings account, small increases today can create a big difference over time.
5. Put excess cash to work
Once your emergency fund is solid, don’t let extra cash sit idle. Consider investing it so your money works as hard as you do.
6. Refresh your beneficiary designations
Life changes—marriage, births, or when kids become financially independent—can make old beneficiary choices outdated. Take a moment to confirm your designations on retirement accounts, life insurance, and other policies.
7. Review your insurance coverage
As your life evolves, so do your insurance needs. Double-check that your life, health, disability, home, and umbrella policies are still providing the right level of protection.

Thank you for letting us help you find your “rich!”
Our recent blog, “Let us help you find your rich,” highlights something we truly enjoy—helping you uncover your own version of rich.
What does rich mean to you? We’ve had the honor of walking alongside many of you who are self-made millionaires—the quiet, hard-working achievers who’ve built wealth from steady hands, wise decisions, and discipline over time. You may not think of yourself as “rich,” but you’ve lived below your means, saved intentionally, invested wisely, and now you’re here. Maybe you’re already a millionaire. Perhaps you’re on your way. Either way—congratulations. That’s no small thing. If you know anyone who might benefit from this blog, please share it using the link below.

The art of saying no: Protecting your energy and time PART 2
Scripts for Saying No (Without Guilt)
Many struggle because they don’t know how to decline gracefully. Here are a few gentle ways to say no while remaining kind and respectful:
- Simple decline: “Thank you for thinking of me, but I need to pass this time.”
- Protecting rest: “I’d love to, but I’ve committed to keeping my evenings free to recharge.”
- Delayed yes: “That sounds great, but my schedule is full right now. Could we revisit this next month?”
- Redirect: “I can’t take that on, but have you thought about asking [Name]?”
Each of these responses communicates care while standing firm in your boundaries.
Reframing Guilt into Empowerment
When guilt creeps in, remind yourself:
- “I’m not letting someone down—I’m showing up for myself.”
- “By saying no now, I can say yes to what truly matters later.”
- “It’s not selfish to honor my limits; it’s essential.”
Every empowered “no” teaches others how to value your time and energy, while also giving them permission to set their own boundaries.
The Space Created by No
Saying no is not about retreating from life, it’s about stepping more fully into it.
It opens space for:
- Quiet mornings without rush
- Time with loved ones
- Creative pursuits
- Restorative solitude
When you practice the art of saying no, you aren’t closing doors; you’re unlocking the ones that lead to joy, peace, and flourishing.
