President + Founder
At the age of thirteen, Tim took a $100 loan from his parents to purchase a lawn mower so he could start mowing the lawns of neighbors he could walk to. That’s when Tim first discovered his results-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit.
He graduated from Berry College with a Finance degree and went to work for a friend of the family who had recently started a financial services company. Tim quickly realized that his values and the values of the firm did not line up. Nine months later, at age 22, he left to start Goodwin Investment Advisory in his spare bedroom with a hope to help people achieve Financial Freedom. He started GIA, not because there was a need for another financial firm, but because there was a need for a different kind of financial services firm. One that was monetarily motivated to act in the best interest of its clients at all times, that was free to give independent and unbiased financial advice.
As Goodwin Investment Advisory has grown, so has Tim’s passion for leading people to financial peace, independence and generosity. His passion has cultivated a culture of client-focused service, but also a larger mission to help all others win with money. Inspired by this mission, Tim wrote Exponential Wealth: How to Create Sustainable Income for Life. This is a book for both the college graduate and the soon-to-be retiree.
Since then, Team GIA has set itself apart as an industry leader with an experienced team and access to a trusted network of professionals. GIA has created and trademarked unique processes and tools to lead their clients to Financial Peace, Independence and Generosity.
Tim spent his formative years growing up in New England but has lived in Georgia since he was a teenager. He met his beautiful wife, Maureen at Berry College and they have been madly in love ever since. They have three beautiful daughters, Canaan, Shiloh and Eden and reside in Canton, Georgia. They both stay very active, finding creative ways to give back to their alma mater. As a family they enjoy attending and volunteering at Woodstock City Church regularly, camping, swinging on the porch, dancing, vacationing at the beach and going out for ice cream.
