Unique ability – Building trust and calm through connection. Erin’s gift lies in her steady presence, empathy, and natural ability to make others feel seen and supported. She brings a sense of peace and reliability to every interaction, helping clients feel cared for while ensuring details are handled with excellence.
Erin Thompson uses her unique ability to serve both clients and the team with grace, compassion, and professionalism. Before joining Goodwin Investment Advisory, Erin spent over 10 years as a teacher and 13 years working at Woodstock City Church, where she developed a passion for serving people and fostering community. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of West Georgia and her Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University.
Born and raised in Peachtree City, Erin now resides in Woodstock, Georgia, with her husband, Mike, and their three children: Jack, Luke, and Emery. Watching them grow into kind, capable young adults is one of her proudest accomplishments. As a family, they love exploring new destinations—from beaches and cruises to their recent trip to Hawaii—and they rarely take the same vacation twice, always eager to experience something new.

When Erin looks at herself and the life she lives, she is most proud of – “My kids. They’re all teenagers now, and it’s amazing to watch the people they’re becoming and the way they use their gifts in the world.”
She would love to enjoy coffee with Jennifer Garner, because she seems so fun and relatable. And if she could choose someone from history, Eleanor Roosevelt, for her courage and her trailblazing spirit as a female leader.
If she could give her younger self one piece of advice, it would be – “Calm down—it will all work out.”
The best piece of advice she has ever received was from her husband, Mike, and he said, “Always assume positive intent.”
If Erin had 24 hours Ferris Bueller–style – “I’d start my day at a café in Italy, spend the afternoon at the national seashore in Pensacola, catch a Broadway show, and end the night with dinner in my backyard surrounded by family and friends.”
If she could share one lesson with the world, it would be – “Truly taking control of your thought life is the key to reversing/stopping all manner of internal issues … that then become external issues. Pay attention to the stories you tell yourself and the thoughts you allow yourself to meditate on. What would happen if you chose to change the narrative?”
Why she loves working at GIA – “I love the staff culture—the fun, the closeness, and the shared commitment to excellence. What makes it even more meaningful is knowing we’re not just doing a job—we’re helping people grow, give, and become more generous. That purpose made my move from church work to corporate life feel like a natural fit.”
